Install, configure, and maintain database and application software in support of information technology university-wide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, upgrade, and maintain the University's databases.
Install, upgrade, and maintain application.
Maintain database standards, security, and data integrity.
Manage all database environments (i.e., production, test, quality assurance, demo, installation, upgrades, and others as needed).
Execute and maintain secure backup and recovery procedures for all databases.
Troubleshoot, monitor and tune databases making recommendations and taking action to ensure optimal performance.
Participate in evaluation of database and application products designed to maintain the databases and application products.
Coordinate database maintenance with other information technology and end-user units of the University.
Working as a member of a team or individually, maintains all vendor and custom patches, fixes and tuning as required.
Establish and track project schedule and identify resource requirements for each phase of a project from conception to maintenance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain proficiency in the support, installation, maintenance, and system performance of databases used within the University.
Maintain proficiency in business trends for providing services as needed for the technical system services provided by UCS.
Assist in identifying institutional information needs.
Assist in making system presentations and establishing and enforcing standards, training staff and assigning programs.
Participate in evaluation of applications and their relationship to the University's database platforms.
Perform other related duties as required or as assigned by the Manager, Associate Director or Director, University Computing Systems.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Must be proficient in the use of various software and programming tools, computer workstation equipment, as well as Internet development tools, terminology and practices; to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.

1) Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years' experience with relational database technologies; or an associate's degree and six years' experience with relational database technologies (at least three years of this experience as a Database Administrator).
2) Demonstrated working knowledge of one or more of the following operating systems: Windows, Unix, Linux.
3) Demonstrated strong competency in SQL.
4) Demonstrated project management skills.
5) Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
6) Demonstrated strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
7) Demonstrated ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations, and to communicate the interpretation to others.
1) Demonstrated experience with implementing and supporting the products related to ERP applications.
2) Demonstrated experience with installation and maintenance of PeopleSoft products (Peopletools, BEA Tuxedo, BEA WebLogic, Integration Broker, SQR, Application Engine, Crystal Reports) and applying programming and security patches and fixes to the PeopleSoft application objects.
3) Demonstrated Database Administration experience in Higher Education.
