The Lead Engine Control Engineer for key Locomotive Embedded Control Systems. Engineers in this subsection use state-of-the-art design / validation processes to produce control systems that meet robust performance and reliability goals. Design Engineers utilize control systems modeling, Six Sigma statistical tools / methodology and other advanced tools to complete projects. Engineers develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role, you will:

Essential Responsibilities

Execute the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements

Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers

Document and communicate results of technical data generated

Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives

Share information and promote open dialogue

Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business


Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Minimum of 3 years of work experience in an engineering field

Ability and willingness to work flexible / additional hours to complete job activities

Ability and willingness to work on locomotives and / or field sites to troubleshoot and develop designs

Ability and willingness to travel as required

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

Master's Degree in a technical Discipline

Experience with Distributed Real Time Control Systems

Experience in open loop and closed loop control logic utilizing PI, PID, & State machines

Experience in Modeling / Computer simulations using simulation software, eg. Matlab, MatrixX

Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

PC proficiency
