The Lead Expeditor is responsible for operating material handling equipment for the purpose of receiving, delivering, moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting production and non-production parts. The Expeditor is also responsible for the reporting of parts inventory status in all storage and production areas. The Expeditor reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority. May direct or request information from other material handlers regarding the location or movement of inventory or inventory equipment to expedite transfer of materials from stock area to production areas.
Lead responsibilities include responsibility for all material movement and storage, which includes raw material, semi-finished and final assembly components. This position is also responsible for monitoring that associates are adhering to all NFI’s policies, procedures and safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Unloads inbound and loads outbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations
Stacks and stores merchandise in designated areas using a forklift, tug, golf-cart, pallet jack, or other powered equipment
Ensures that the exact number and type of product is staged for daily production
Performs picking duties in an efficient manner meeting customer standards
Moves product from staging and/or storage areas into production areas
Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods
Maintains appropriate records and reports to guarantee inventory control and security
Assists in physical inventories
Ensures proper stock rotation
Conducts cycle counts as requested
Records and maintains perpetual account of inventory (quantity and type) of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed, manually or using computer
Updates shift turnover reports for NFI and customer
May examine material received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies, such as damaged or unmarked parts
May also be required to perform other duties as specified by management
Delegates work assignments to associates.
Ensure associates timely pick-up & delivery of all product/material movements.
Uses various systems data to manage material flow and parts status
Performs pre-flight and safety check lists prior to operating any equipment.
Verify all daily equipment Pre-flights are performed.
Responsible for Lock Out tag Out (LOTO)
May operate Tugs, forklifts or carts to transport dollies & trailers (loaded or unloaded) to designated areas. (includes backing up dollies in confined areas).
May operate cranes to load/unload material into production areas.
Collect & verify all material movement tracking logs.
Monitors and ensures that safety chocks are in place during loading process.
Performs other duties as requested by the site Manager. (support other areas, equipment training etc.)
Performs weekly / monthly safety meetings
Monitors timecards for accuracy.
Excellent communication and customer service skills
At least 1 year Tug, Tractor or forklift experience on both sit down and stand up reach forklift and/or using warehouse distribution equipment
Familiarity with SAP/MRP warehouse inventory management systems
Good leadership skills
Previous supervisory experience
2 years experience in a manufacturing environment. (Preferred)
Excellent computer skills
Attention to detail
High school or GED diploma. College degree preferred
Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs without restriction
Must be able to work in varying facility conditions
Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
