Per S | Energy has an immediate need for a Lead HSE Design Engineer at our client in Corpus Christi TX. This is a Direct Hire position.
This position will serve as the technical authority on HSE design considerations via participation with the basic and detailed engineering activities for the CC project performed by engineering teams based in Italy, China, India, and the US. In addition to ensuring compliance with all applicable HSE standards for this US project, the Lead HSE Design Engineer will coordinate and supervise as necessary external HSE consulting resources brought in to support the project. The assignment will be based in the US with travel as required domestically and internationally. The role reports to this projects Engineering Manager who is based in Tortona, Italy.
Minimum of Bachelor degree in Engineering (Chemical or Process Engineering is the most applicable academic background)
Minimum of 10 years of experience working in the Chemical, Oil & Gas, or Petrochemical industries either directly for an EPC firm or in support of projects involving the design and construction of process facilities, particularly for those requiring applicable of PSM/PHA under the OSHA regulationsfor the US
Work experience should include participation and reviews of: hazardous area classifications and layouts; development of HSE plans and procedures; HSE studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, HRA,
QRA, BRA, etc; ensuring the outcome of HSE studies are incorporated into design; preparation of loss prevention documentation; Management of Change (MOC) as related to HSE design and compliance during installation, start-up, and commissioning activities; fire and gas detections systems; fire hydrant system layout and P&IDs; passive and active fire protection systems; and sizing calculations for fire water systems.
Must have or be eligible for TWIC certification
Geographically mobile, Texas, but also international destinations such as Italy, China, and India
Project experience in the US, particularly in Texas is a strong plus
Experience with FEED/detailed engineering support experience with PET, PTA, or other aromatics and polymers/resins chemical plants is another strong plus
Familiarity with HSE considerations for barge docks and rail yard operations would be helpful in this role
International project experience outside the US or working with an international FEED/detailed engineering team to complete projects within the US
