PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Lead Manager leads the development of the Thought Leadership platform creation and its deployment. The position creates and manages ongoing processes across the enterprise to align the retirement voice and create consistency. The responsibilities and output of this position will lead to more content for prospect and intermediary marketing efforts. Works directly with Group Manager, Research, Insights, and Business Intelligence (i.e. Segment Insights Leader) and marketing associates across RPS TPD, Retail, GIS and CMC to drive the execution of the retirement thought leadership objectives and platform. Monitors the competitive landscape to inform business initiatives and develops perspectives to be shared internally and externally. Leverages external relationships to identify best practices and regularly looks to the external market to identify trends and areas of leverage for the organization. In addition, engages with other key stakeholders to develop Thought Leadership positioning (for retirement) and works to gain consensus on approach. Leads the development and execution of the creative components and the market facing message in partnership with key partners in CMC. Maintain partnerships with internal contacts to ensure alignment on priorities and consistent best practice research processes to inform efforts.
Leads efforts to gather, synthesize, and share competitive intelligence regarding thought-leadership efforts across the industry/marketplace:
Recognizes and understands importance and impact of new and innovative thinking and execution across product, experience, platform, and distribution channels, from within the context of current competitive business environment.
Gathers, digests, and shares competitive intelligence to support thought-leadership strategies and direction, and understands implications for new and emerging thought-leadership efforts.
Maintains strong and objective point of view on TRP’s position, relative to our competitors and client needs, in the thought-leadership arena. Able to clearly articulate how thought-leadership efforts will translate into bottom-line results for clients and TRP.
Leads thought leadership (TL) campaign development:
Facilitates the Retirement Thought leadership (TL) Content Development, Integration and Curation.
Partners to direct and develop the appropriate Research & Analytics to support TL platform evolution and ongoing measurement.
Coordinates with appropriate marketing managers to create and execute audience-specific touchpoint strategy and campaign integration.
Partners with TRP corp/other BU contacts to shape and influence social, conference and PR strategies.
Partners with RPS to develop messaging and themes in Value Prop/audience message maps.
Leads efforts to ensure frequent, consistent, and effective enterprise (i.e. cross-organizational) knowledge-sharing and leverage:
Actively seeks to identify thought-leadership intersections across business units that create opportunity for TRP.
Directly contributes to, and influences cross-business unit collaboration
Creates and leads formal and informal working groups to share insights, perform ideation, solicit and share feedback, refine positions and perspectives, and determine new marketplace opportunities for TRP.
Collaborates to develop unique, differentiated, and impactful marketplace positions that challenge conventional thinking and the status quo, while furthering TRP’s position as a world-class thought-leadership organization.
Partners with peers across enterprise to identify opportunities to strengthen organizational alignment, better leverage human capital and resources, and improve speed, quality, and (go-to-market) throughput.
MBA/advanced degree with 7-10 years Qualified Retirement plan industry experience
Previous thought-leadership experience in financial services industry
FINRA licenses (Series 6/7)
College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience
Background in marketing with a focus on analytics and marketing principles
Exceptional creative thinking and problem solving skills
Extensive project management experience
Comfort with ambiguity; ability to redirect efforts seamlessly
Strong understanding and deep knowledge of mutual fund industry, investments and regulatory guidelines and environment impacting industry
Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate interpersonal communications with all levels at T. Rowe Price and external organizations
Demonstrated ability to comfortably maintain poise and diplomacy amongst both client and T. Rowe Price senior management
Demonstrated ability to work well with other internal department associate in order to deliver high quality service
Demonstrated ability to think critically on a strategic level, take initiative and problem-solve
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, anticipate needs and coordinate several projects simultaneously
