Job Title: Lead Network Architect
Deliver end to end customer network designs and solutions which meet or exceed customer requirements using BT’s 21CN service platforms. Lead responsibility for developing network designs for major customer bids managed by the US&C WNB (US and Canada Win New Business) teams and the BRC (Bid Response Centre). Lead interface between the US&C channels and P&SD (Portfolio & Service Design) Client Design & Delivery teams. Driving and agreeing all aspects of a customer network solution though network approvals including Customer Edge Design, Access Design, Core Network Design, ACF, Technical and Financial concurrence, and CLAN / IPT non-standard Design through the CPE platform teams. Re-use existing solutions or develop reusable components that address common customer requirements to comply with BT’s re-use target standard product, reusable configuration and bespoke design. Deliver network solutions that meet or exceed BT’s Right First Time target.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent. Employer defines equivalent as 12 years of experience in computer networks/telecommunications. Requires 10 years’ experience in Network Design or Technical Sales Engineering. Experience to include: Design and delivery of complex global network solutions for large multi-national corporations; IP & MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) design; Designing converged network solutions over MPLS Wide Area Networks; Network security and the impact on customer network design; Driving standardization by designing solutions around re-usable components and creating design patterns and templates; Access technologies including TDM, SDH/SONET, ISDN & IPLC; Analyzing access costs, methods and technologies to meet a customer’s requirements and incorporating these into a cost effective end to end design; Design CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) options to meet cost, resilience and SLA requirements; Defining/analyzing maintenance requirements to meet SLAs including working with procurement to issue Statements of Works to third party suppliers; Defining requirements and validating responses from third party suppliers of access networks & technologies; Legacy protocols ATM, Frame Relay & X.25; Ensure network designs comply with Telecom licensing and regulations; Designing large (100+ sites) global customer solutions consisting of wholly owned and partnership assets; Training and leading staff ; Direct interaction with customers including face to face presentations; 2 of 10 years experience required to include: Develop network transition and transformation plans; Wi-Fi, DSL, VSAT & Ethernet; Responding to customer Request for Proposals; Network and Application Acceleration and Optimization.
