Provides technical support to engineers and scientists in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. Develops and understands network solutions considering the hardware and system objectives. Understands the technical needs of the business.
2. Lead Network Engineer Position Responsibilities
Manages network operations engineers in the management of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide area networks (WANs), and public switched telephone networks.
Oversees the Installation, monitoring, maintenance, upgrading and support of network communications systems, providing more oversight and on complex global projects which cross various disciplines and teams.
Performs capacity planning, routing, switching and load balancing, and makes strategic recommendations for the long term global network design.
Identifying resource requirements for network systems.
Crossing various disciplines and teams, guides network planning, network architecture design and engineering.
Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.
Creates specific data-traffic policies for allowing or denying host and/or network access between business unit/network domains, collocated customer networks, host systems and network resources.
Participates in regular reviews of firewall rules with engineering, making changes as directed.
Performs firewall performance analysis and tuning, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Upgrades, Installs, configure monitors and maintain network firewalls as required.
Works with the Data Center personnel to make sure that all firewalls and associated network systems are available and working properly.
3. Education, Professional Accomplishments, and Certifications
- Education Required: Degree qualified in Computer Science, MIS or other related discipline, or equivalent work experience in Data Center or Network Operations.
- Experience Required: 10+ years.
- Special Qualifications: More than one professional certification relevant for role.
