Successful candidate is responsible for planning,
coordinating, and performing complex technical
assignments related to markets software applications in
support of ISO-NE Control Room and Market Operations.
Typical tasks include 24x7 support, analysis, design,
programming, troubleshooting, recommending solutions,
and implementing fixes associated with the SMD Market
Primary areas of accountability include the support of
applications, communication with end-users and vendors
for Market System software problems and enhancements.
The job entails providing IT subject matter expertise
for ISO-NE Market Systems. The candidate should have an
understanding of the business processes associated with
markets systems and power system operations and be able
to provide business analysis perspectives for proposed
changes to the SMD Market Clearing and EMS applications.
The ideal candidate will be experienced with Market
Systems clearing applications within the electric
utility industry, and have knowledge of optimization
algorithms and electricity market rules.
Advanced knowledge of PL/SQL programming and Oracle
database management are highly desirable. Certification
in Oracle is a plus.
Experience with UNIX, Linux, Windows, C/C++, CPLEX and
JAVA is desired.
Knowledge of bulk power system operations and EMS power
system analysis tools such as State Estimation,
Contingency Analysis, and Optimal Power Flow and how
these applications interface with the Market Systems is
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
is required with five or more years of experience for
the Senior position and seven or more years for the
Lead. A Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer
Science is preferred. Holders of a PhD require two or
more years of experience.
Additional requirements include exceptional
interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills,
as well as the ability to team effectively. Preference
will be given to candidates with two or more years of
recent experience with AREVA’s Market Systems software.
