As Lead Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the operational oversight of key products & services within Payroll or Benefits. You will lead projects aimed to simplify processes and drive more standard procedures and rules. You will take ownership of all operations-focused tasks for that process(s) including daily work, outsourcing, and auditing. Leverage expertise to work collaboratively across internal operations teams and with GE Businesses to resolve processing issues.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide work direction, prioritization, troubleshooting assistance, and leadership to team members and consultants in key operational processing activities for Payroll & Benefits.
  • Ensure programs and practice changes are compliant within legal guidelines.
  • Manage vendor metrics, monthly reviews, escalations, disaster recovery testing, and year-end coordination.
  • Develop broad knowledge of processing procedures to ensure successful execution.
  • Drive process improvement projects and implementation with a focus on customer satisfaction and standardization.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional project efforts between key operational processing areas including but not limited to: process improvement project plans, tracking and reporting progress, and ensuring adherence to deadlines and project methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams and establish strong working relationships with GE Businesses and key stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex processing issues and escalations for internal and external customers while promoting “Best in Class” customer service.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in related area (or a high school diploma/GED or equivalent with at least 4 years of experience in related area)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Payroll & Benefits or HR Operations with a broad understanding of operational activities
    Eligibility Requirements:

  • MUST be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • MUST be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification and background check.
  • MUST be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • MUST be willing to work out of the Schenectady, NY office.

    Desired Characteristics
  • Master’s degree
  • Systems application expertise; (PeS or Oracle) knowledge desired
  • Strong analytical and clear thinking skills; ability to identify trends and implement process improvements
  • Demonstrated success in project management or process improvement
  • Demonstrated understanding of integration between PeopleSoft HR, OHR, payroll, benefits, and /or pension modules
  • Prior successful HRMS application design, development, testing, and implementation experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong facilitation skills
  • Strong presentation and status reporting skills
  • Ability to travel to other offices and business locations as required
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Operate in a matrix organization and have ability to juggle multiple priorities and demands from various sources
