DESCRIPTION:

The primary purpose of this job is to oversee and build all prototype products in the course of a New Product Introduction. With guidance from Engineering on projects and using standardized work procedures, acts as a lead technical resources while guiding other resources to meet deadlines and support the Engineering teams.

RESPOSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Adheres to GB Core Beliefs and all safety and quality requirements.

2. Constructs complex engineering samples and prototypes to specifications and requirements with direction from the Engineering team.

3. Creates and is responsible for organization of engineering build notes and documentation from all prototype builds. Supports manufacturing engineers in the creation of production build documentation.

4. Provides value-add feedback to design engineers through post-build reviews, design reviews, and DFX reviews.

5. Coordinates, communicates and is responsible for prototype build schedules. Recommends necessary resources within project timelines and guides other technicians.

6. Reads and thoroughly understands drawings, specifications, schematics, sketches.

7. Responsible for the organization and maintenance of engineering prototype labs.

8. Supports initial production builds and transition from engineering to production.

9. Leads other technicians supporting the prototype function providing guidance, technical expertise and support.

10. Performs other functions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

Associate’s technical degree with 7-10 years of experience. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 0-3 years of experience. Electromechanical product assembly experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Specialized Knowledge:

Ability to work with a variety of equipment and instruments such as resistance welders, ultrasonic welders, DMM, power supplies, callipers; Superior hand soldering skills; Knowledge in Microsoft Office products.

Special Skills:

Excellent communication skills, ability to explain technical information, ability to work independently.
