Lead, communicate, align team and execute on the Strategic Plan and BTG/BIS/Solutions Delivery Goals.

Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation and a solutions oriented approach.

Advance the Leadership model as set forth by the CIO through example.

Adhere to all Barclays, Barclaycard, BCUS and BTG standards, Policies and governance practices.

Provide ETL/SLT support for ad-hoc requests including research, content, slides and/or deck development assimilation, copies and/or distribution.

Perform monthly review of development plan with all direct reports.

Contribute to establishing BTG goals, team goals and the strategic plan.

Communicate appropriately: maintain confidentiality when required and disseminate other information to the team in an effective and timely manner.

Decision Making

Decisions can be either strategic or tactical in nature and impact the function of the department and organization as a whole. Problems encountered are difficult in nature with various degrees of complexity. Critical role in working with other group leads to manage and grow the organization with a focus on performance, scalability.

Customer Contact

Works with users, contractors, vendors and technical personnel. Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and BTG management and staffs at the highest level.

SAS Application Administration and System Ownership

Licensing (usage tracking, negotiation, approvals)

Production and non-production

Patch management, including software upgrades

Capacity management : input to forecasting models

Incident /problem /change management

Identify and Implement Best Practices

Tracking and resolution of Vulnerabilities

Logical Access Mgt:
User access Administration, Application Ownership

User recertification

Annual LAM document review

Password Reset

Production Support of all SAS environment related issues

Disaster Recovery

Application and Environment Replication

Participate in DR Testing

Compliance and Risk Assessment

Reviews and Mitigation

Project Oversight and Participation

Vendor Management

Participation in the Data Architecture Round Table and Architecture Working Group

Working knowledge of Unix/Linux

People Management


Education and Experience

Either -

4 year degree, BS Computer Science or Engineering plus 5-8 years of related experience with 3 years of management experience

Or -

Equivalent overall experience typically gained through 12-15+ years business programming experience with 3 years of management experience.

Technical Knowledge

Depending on specifics of role, will have either

an in-depth knowledge and expertise of one or more specific technical platforms including SAS

a very good broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies pertinent to Barclaycard.

A very good broad understanding of SAS programming to produce code for automated processes to assist with administration and review user code. Also to provide "Best Practices" and help optimize performance.

Other Skills

Strong analytical abilities highly developed oral and written communication skills. Requirement gathering and hands on, development experience is a must. Knowledge of credit card, direct mail or marketing business functions is a plus. Must work well either independently or as part of a team. . Excellent organizational, planning, and leadership skills. Ability to build/sustain a team-oriented, fast pace and innovative environment.
