GE’s Grid IQ Solutions as a Service delivers subscription based hosted Smart Grid service “packages” designed to leverage GE’s breadth, experience, and Smart Grid technology to shift integration, financial, and deployment risks away from the utility and provide a cost-effective Smart Grid solution. Essential Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be able to work directly with the customer, lead or participate in multiple technical projects or portions at one time, and contribute to core platform sub-system development. Candidates are expected to demonstrate outstanding growth traits. In addition, in this role you will:
  • Be responsible for the initial integration, configuration, launch, and maintenance of customer systems
  • Lead and participate in customer facing activities and translate customer technical requirements to solution deliverables
  • Translate top level Smart Grid interoperability requirements down to subsystem, and individual product requirements
  • Lead and participate in the integration and deployment of core sub-systems in a Java JEE development environment for a hosted platform
  • Ensure GE and 3rd party products meet or exceed interoperability requirements for the system
  • Collaborate with other engineers to share best practices and ensure consistent project execution methodologies

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related engineering disciplines
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementation, deployment, and design of large scale hosted software systems in a J2EE environment
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience with J2EE 1.2 or later and familiarity with JNDI, JMS, JAXP, JDBC, OSGI, and CMP

    Desired Characteristics
  • Proficiency in HTML, XML, JavaScript, SQL, SOAP-based web services, JSON
  • Superior analytical skills and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Demonstrated success with customer interaction and project delivery
  • Ability to quickly respond to incidents, analyze and remediate to restore service in a production environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (GE only)
  • Knowledge of SOA based development utilizing an ESB and cloud computing
  • Preferred Experience in Utility Industry and knowledge of multiple Smart Grid systems and their integration
  • Familiarity and demonstrated success with big data and reporting tools such as Pentaho, JasperReports, BIRT
  • Knowledge and applied experience in the implementation of enterprise software systems
  • Experience working within agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
