The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business.
Additionally, you will:
Be responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, improving quality performance via Quality Plan implementation
Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes
Accelerate improvements in supplier quality and deliver value
Develop positive relationships and work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier / engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and transfers
Interface with Suppliers and Supply chain to drive Quality improvements
Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier yield, field cost, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement / effectiveness, and corrective & preventative action closure
Drive improvements utilizing Supplier Scorecards and own Supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, and driving improvement plans
Understand and drive Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing internally and with suppliers
Provide Quality Engineering expertise requiring advanced/specialized skills and a broad range of quality engineering expertise
Specify, develop, and accept advanced technology, quality information and test equipment
Provide advanced Quality Engineering of new product introduction involving new processes or advanced automated equipment
Act as consultant to the Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering organizations to improve Quality and Manufacturing processes, introduce new products and improve product design
Develop & implement product acceptance / test procedures
Provide leadership role during investigations of major problems and of special projects
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related Technical field (Mathematics, Materials) from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Quality, or Engineering in a manufacturing environment

Strong problem solving, analytical and collaborative skills along with a continuous improvement mindset
Strong oral and written communication skills
Prefer Bachelor’s in Engineering in Mechanical or Industrial engineering
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily
Strong background in applying statistical quality control tools for process and product controls, such SPC, Gauge R & R, Process Capability, FMEA, and DOEs
Experience with metallurgical analysis, fabrication and/or forging process
Experience in developing and implementing vendor qualification
Demonstrated leadership to influence to and drive change internally and externally
Six sigma certified (GE employees only)
