Lead mechanical system engineer for the ESBWR and specifically for the North Anna 3 project. The tasks associated with this position involve completion of mechanical systems development work that includes support of licensing activities. This position has interfaces with the I&C system engineer counterpart, Human factors engineering, general arrangement group, performance engineering group, Licensing, project management and PRA group.

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
  • Complete mechanical systems development work
  • Prepare and maintain system design documents, perform system calculations, input system information into project software management tools, and assure that the system properly interfaces with other systems
  • Be capable of prioritizing and managing work tasks to meet schedule requirements
  • Prepare work in accordance with quality assurance program and meet all quality requirements
  • Use problem solving skills; ability to work as a team member to resolve issues
  • Be able to take leadership role rated to system responsibilities
  • Be capable of prioritizing and managing work tasks to meet schedule requirements
  • Prepare work in accordance with quality assurance program and meet all quality requirements
  • Be able to interface with all other disciplines associated with new plant design and construction

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position, including fundamental knowledge of, and experience with hydraulic and thermal technology, and mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves and instrumentation

    Desired Characteristics
  • Experience with BWR technology experience on containment monitoring, fuel pool cooling, HVAC, or BOP systems
  • M.S. in a. engineering discipline
  • Be able to effectively communicate and work with others
  • Ability to learn and use both commercially available and unique computerized work tools
  • Nuclear power plant experience
  • Knowledgeable about nuclear industry and regulatory standards
  • Experience with Intergraph Smart Plant (PID), DOORS or Aspentech (BASIC, HYSYS) software
  • Proven ability to think strategically, be creative and move quickly
  • Quick learner, able to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions
  • Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships
  • Knowledge of GEH ESBWR and ABWR Certified Designs
  • Experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements
  • Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others
  • Detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments
  • Team player with strong leadership capabilities
  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Clearly and confidently communicates based on deep understanding
  • Proven record of delivering on commitments
