The Lead Systems Engineer will design electric propulsion systems for underground vehicles. This work will involve design of drives, controls, and HMI panels, defining requirements for all propulsion system components and subsystems, and integrating the propulsion system into a vehicle platform. You will work with Systems Engineering and Engineering Center of Excellence teams.
In addition, you will:
Design propulsion systems for underground mining equipment
Work with customers and OEMS to define system requirements and integrate into vehicles
Meet project timelines, budgets, and scope
Meet reliability targets
Define validations requirements, assist in validation testing, data reduction and analysis, and provide design recommendations
Ensure work complies to all applicable design practices and design guidelines
Lead efforts to update procedures, guidelines, and practices as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related Engineering discipline
Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in mining, propulsion system design, equipment design, or related industry
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering
Minimum of 5 years in vehicle or system engineering design or related heavy industry engineering experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the underground mining industry
Experience with conceptual and detailed design and analysis, including 1st principles and FEA analysis
Domain knowledge in hard rock and soft rock mining
Field experience related to underground mining practices, equipment, propulsion systems, and vehicles
Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with applicable engineering tools and systems
Experience with vehicle propulsion systems including adjustable speed drives, electric motors, batteries / energy storage, and vehicle control systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
