Title: Lead Teradata DBA

Lead Teradata DBA:
Lead a team of Teradata DBAs in providing Database Administration support for an Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Requirement Details:
  • Create, maintain, and support Teradata architectural environment
Physical database design

  • Administration of database objects in change control environment
  • Ability to lead technical changes, roadmap database technologies we are responsible for, and possess solid people leadership abilities
  • Development of pro-active processes for monitoring capacity and performance
  • Perform system level and application level tuning
  • Support the application development teams for database needs and guidance
  • Perform capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction; provide business applications with enough resources for their short-term and long-term growth
  • Enforce technical database administration standards, archiving strategy and security policy standards to ensure databases are compliant and optimized
  • Assist in designing solutions with capability to support high availability scenarios
  • Work with Development and Implementation teams to design, develop, and deploy database solutions
  • Pro-actively ensure database systems are designed and maintained at the highest level of support; plan/set procedures; provide reliable and secure systems for business applications
  • ITIL Foundation or Certification a Plus
  • On-call support for application development projects
Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent personal communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Team Player
  • Very strong in database design, tuning, and trouble shooting
  • Understanding of the underlying operating system
  • Solid in the transition of the logical data models to physical data models using Erwin or equivalent data modeling tools
  • Very familiar with BTEQ, TPUMP and QueryMan tools
  • Experiences in backup and restore (BAR) design and implementation using Veratis and Storage Tek
  • Very familiar with Unix Scripting languages
  • Experiences in Disaster Recovery exercises
Additional Skill Requirements:
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience in effectively leading teams in a cross-functional environment is highly desired
  • Ability to make presentations to diverse types of audiences (e.g. management, users, vendors, technical staff)
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and thoroughly
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence in IT group’s knowledge of, and concern for, users’ business needs
Hiring Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related technical disciplines
  • 6 years experiences as a Teradata Database Administrator handling 25 TB data environment
  • Preferred:
1 year experience in Teradata OS Environment, familiar with applying patches, running Scripts etc.
3 years leadership experiences as team lead or manager
3 years experiences as Programmer/System Analyst
