This position is responsible for leading and/or managing a group of Test Engineers on a daily basis through each Milestone cycle of a project. This includes both on a technical basis and as a mentor in the areas of leadership and project execution and completion. The Lead Test Engineer is also assigned their own projects to execute which are to be load balanced with the Test Lead responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop, review and execute test plans and scripts for new and existing game themes and operating systems
Submit and track issues found during testing to ensure that they are resolved.
Follow Work Instructions on a daily basis and assist other Test Engineers with these functions
Provide detailed Completion Report at the end of each project and verify this report for projects assigned to all team Test Engineers
Interface with the Software Engineering Department and other members of the Product Support Engineering Department to resolve all reported issues before the gaming product is released. Assist other Test Engineers in this area with their projects
Attend OS Dev and Game Dev Code Reviews and/or be aware of code changes that may impact PA test coverage and execution. Ensure code reviews are attended by all Test Engineers for their assigned projects
Attend and lead Integration and System Test handoff meetings
Establish and manage all required databases for System Test functions and testing.
Responsible for all project escalations for each assigned project
Mentor and lead multiple Test Engineers on multiple projects
May have a small team of engineers as direct reports
Review project hardware requirements and ensure that necessary hardware is in place for each assigned project
Provide a weekly project status report for each project assigned to the team.
Establish key contacts with upstream organizations that have a direct impact on Product Assurance {Product Management, Systems Engineering, OS Dev, and Game Dev}
Introduce and lead Product Assurance process improvement initiatives
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
Experience in leading test teams through a projects complete test life cycle
Organizing and leading project team meetings and reviews
Writing project status and completion reports
Experience in deriving system test plans/cases from system requirements
Knowledge and experience using Linux/Unix.
Academic and/or work experience with C and/or C++
Software Test Methodology and Product Development lifecycle
Automation experience is a plus
Gaming industry experience preferred
Required Experience:
7+ years experience relevant to System Test
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members
Ability to lead and mentor multiple projects and Test Engineers simultaneously
Advanced time management and organizational skills
Capable of providing input and solutions on specific or project wide issues
Ability to evaluate Test Engineer performance and provide feedback to Manager
Detailed oriented and capable of working and leading with minimal supervision.
Able to work and deliver in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
Real-time embedded systems and/or gaming experience preferred.
Expertise with Mercury Test Director, Quality Center and Serena Team Track.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge or experience with Perl or other shell scripting language is a plus
Results oriented, Risk Taking and extensive multi-tasking ability
