We are seeking

Senior Director of Learning and Design

to join our growing Leadership Academy Practice.

The Leadership Academy strives to create unique learning experiences that enhance the performance of individuals and organizations and build the critical capabilities of the next generation of leaders and sales professionals. The Senior Director position is a critical leadership position on this team, responsible for managing the design team as well as a portfolio of complex member engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Team Management:
  • Participate on centralized senior leadership team reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Leadership Academies
  • Manage team of 7-8 Directors, Associate Directors and Managers of learning design
  • Enable productivity and effectiveness of design team staff through strategic planning
  • Plan for strategic allocation of design resources across Leadership Academies team
  • Take leadership role in engaging with high-profile clients to ensure quality and consistency of service and attention
  • Establish continuous process improvement for client assignments
  • Lead innovation in approaches to effective partnership with client organizations
  • Identify and act upon opportunities to improve Academy offerings based on audience needs
  • Maximize opportunities to engage with participants after Academy sessions have ended through job aids, assessment tools, and networking opportunities
  • Develop onboarding plans for new team members
Content Management & Development:
Deploy experience and expertise in executive education design and management to structure partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

Lead design efforts and coordinate design resources for development of all new products and partnerships

Partner with Head of Faculty to train facilitators on Academy material and ensure maximum quality/consistency of presented content

Source clients and past participants to interview for guidance on content development

Engage high-level clientele in post-session interviews and debrief conversations

Partner with subject matter experts, internal and contract designers, and product development colleagues to leverage core business IP

Lead evolution of participant materials in partnership with instructional design team, facilitators, and subject matter experts

Account & Client Relationship Management:
Own a portfolio of (and lead design engagements for) the top 10% of Leadership Academies most critical client engagements, prioritizing complexity, new/evolving content and/or complexity.

Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing review of satisfaction scores, exceeding expectations across LO clients

Mentor Director, Associate Director and Manager direct reports on client service and delivery styles

Cultivate opportunities to effectively engage multiple stakeholders within the client organization, enhancing the participant experience and promoting organizational engagement

Participant Experience Management:
Develop streamlined process for assignment of new business to appropriate learning designer(s)

Surface opportunities for enhancement of the Leadership Academy web portal to support the ongoing participant learning experience

Lead innovation in participant communication strategy to more effectively engage participants before and after classroom sessions

Provide program support to participants through live and virtual facilitation of Academy content

Sales & Product Support:
  • Provide senior-level product support and program expertise on sales calls
  • Drive design team to promote sales success by increasing resale percentages across LO business
  • Partner with internal account managers to enhance individual and organizational consumption of Leadership Academy and broader Corporate Executive Board memberships and products
  • Assist product support with creation of internal marketing documents and configured agendas for customized onsite academy designs
  • Assist product support to ensure efficient and timely handoff of accounts from sales to design, including biweekly meetings to review newly booked business and discuss design assignments

A successful candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree a plus
  • Minimum 8 years in Learning design and delivery
  • Minimum of 3 years managing and leading a team
  • Strong client communication skills and experience interacting with senior leadership
  • Comfort facilitating effective discussion on teleconferences and in the classroom
  • Demonstrated project/process management ability
  • Strong conceptual thinking with great attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and multitasking/prioritization abilities
  • Ability to enforce program process requirements in clear and firm manner
  • Strong team player and service ethic when interacting with internal clients
  • Proactive in anticipating and preempting problems
  • Exceptional written communication skills; Graphic design skills (in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint) strongly preferred
  • Comfort with uncertainty and ambiguity
  • Demonstrated maturity and poise under pressure
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibility as needed to ensure achievement of group goals and service to our clients
