The mission of the Department of Health and Exercise Studies is to educate a globally diverse NC State population regarding the benefits of living a healthy and physically active lifestyle by providing equal opportunities and professional preparation in sport, fitness, health, and recreation.
Essential Job Duties
Teach an estimated nine courses per semester with a focus on Health and Exercise Studies. Responsibilities include equipment planning and procurement for areas of expertise. Will be involved with minor program classes as deemed appropriate by curriculum committee. Responsible for departmental and university committee participation.
Teaching courses from the sports science / health curriculum and physical fitness / skills courses.
Participation in departmental committees.
Master’s Degree (Doctorate preferred) in Physical Education, Recreation, or closely related field.
Position requires ability, interest, and experience in teaching courses from the physical fitness / skills courses.
Departmental Required Skills
Candidates must have expertise in several of the following courses: golf, archery, bowling,racquet sports, fencing, aquatics (springboard diving, lifeguard training, swim instruction), and fitness (aerobics, yoga, Pilates, weight training, running).
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Doctorate preferred in Physical Education, Recreation, or equivalent.
Required License or Certification
Current First Aid and CPR / AED certification is required and must be maintained.
