The English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts Department at Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a lecturer position in art and design beginning August 2013. The position is contingent on funding being available. SPSU (www.spsu.edu) is a member institution in the University System of Georgia, located 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, in the historic city of Marietta.
Southern Polytechnic State University, a member of the University System of Georgia, is a residential university with approximately 6,200 students pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in many of the nation’s fastest growing technology fields. The university, located one mile west of 1-75’s Exit 263, is just 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta. Southern Polytechnic is an EOE / ADA /AA Employer.
Responsibilities include teaching 15 credit each semester of fine arts, design, and media arts courses, including: drawing, painting, 2D/3D design, history & principles of design, and/or art appreciation, as well as other courses as appropriate to the candidate’s background. The new hire will also take part in expanding offerings in support of our New Media Arts degree program.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills
Candidates must have a M.F.A in a fine arts discipline by the time of appointment. Preference given to individuals who can demonstrate an ability to work across a range of media and who understand the relationship between traditional media and new media works of art, and can combine theory and practice in both studio and lecture settings.
