The English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts Department at Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a lecturer position in Professional Communication beginning August 2013. The position is contingent on funding being available. SPSU (www.spsu.edu) is a member institution in the University System of Georgia, located 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, in the historic city of Marietta.
Southern Polytechnic State University, a member of the University System of Georgia, is a residential university with approximately 6,200 students pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in many of the nation’s fastest growing technology fields. The university, located one mile west of 1-75’s Exit 263, is just 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta. Southern Polytechnic is an EOE / ADA /AA Employer.
Responsibilities include teaching 15 credit hours each semester from among the following: composition, technical writing, business communication, journalism, and introduction to professional communication, plus other courses as appropriate to the candidate’s qualifications. The new hire will also take part in expanding offerings in support of our degree programs.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills
Candidates must have at least an M.A. in English, Professional Writing, Professional Communication, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
Preference given to individuals who demonstrate a clear understanding of the applied focus of a polytechnic university, and who possess an ability to teach a broad range of courses in professional and technical communication.
