The University of Southern Maine’s School of Business invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of Sport Management beginning Fall 2013. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and potentially graduate teaching in the Sport Management program and placement and supervision of Sport Management interns. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to student advising that goes beyond course selection and includes strategic career planning. Involvement in department and university service are also expected.
Candidates should be able to teach at least two of the following undergraduate courses: Introduction to Sport Management, Sport Law, Sport Marketing, Sport Finance, Sport Event Management, Sport Communication, Athletics Administration, Facility Management, and Sponsorship and Sales.

Qualifications: Required: Doctorate or Masters degree in a field related to Sport Management. Employment experience in the sport industry and demonstrated teaching effectiveness in sport management is also expected. Preferred: Evidence of commitment to diversity, student success and active learning, and community engagement. Candidates with a range of academic expertise and an interest in program building and development are preferred.

The University of Southern Maine (USM) is one of the seven universities of the University of Maine System. The School’s mission emphasizes partnership with the business community, which is a key feature of the Sport Management program. The Sport Management program was started in 2007 and has grown to over 150 students.
