Support and advise business units on retail and credit related legal and regulatory issues affecting the business of Bluestem Brands by providing legal expertise on applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, UDAAP, CAN SPAM, GLBA,TCPA, TSR, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, TILA and GLBA;

Track and report on the status of proposed and final regulatory changes;

Support and advise business units in connection with evaluating/vetting new concepts, developing and maintaining processes for the review and approval of marketing materials, sweepstakes and promotions, and social media to evaluate legal risk and exposure and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;

Assist with management of the Bluestem trademark portfolio, advising business on development of new marks, systems and process for ongoing maintenance; act as liaison with outside resources for the filing and renewal of marks and initiation of trademark searches, and review and approval of internal and external materials to ensure proper use of marks;

Manage legal drafting, review and approval of nondisclosure agreements;

Provide litigation support;

Provide corporate support;

Provide legal research and support on projects as assigned; and

Perform other tasks as required to advance the business of Bluestem Brands, Inc.

Required Skills

Knowledge of the principals, methods, materials and practices of legal research and interplay between laws, regulations, legislation and guidance.

Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and cross-functionally and respond quickly to changing needs, timelines and priorities of a fast paced, results oriented business environment.

Demonstrated ability to regularly re-prioritize risks, objectives and action plans based on evolving corporate and regulatory landscape. High tolerance for ambiguity and flexibility.

Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to appropriate interactions with internal clients of various levels. Proven track record of building relationships to achieve strategic objectives.

Capable of finding creative solutions to complex situations and identifying potential areas for business process improvement.

Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks and projects

Required Experience

Completion of ABA approved certification program or certified paralegal through NALA or NFPA, or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

10+ years of experience in similar or related work (including but not limited to familiarity and facility with applicable federal and state laws and trade regulations related to consumer credit, intellectual property, advertising of products and promotions, UDAAP, CAN SPAM, GLBA,TCPA, TSR, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, TILA and GLBA, corporate governance).

Knowledge of the principals, methods, materials and practices of legal research and interplay between laws, regulations, legislation and guidance.
