The Legal Counsel assists the General Counsel in advising the board of directors, Chief Executive Officer, management and other staff of Southwest Key and its subsidiaries on all legal matters concerning the organization and its subsidiaries.
Provide advice and counsel on legal and other related matters to the board of
directors, Chief Executive Officer, executive management and other staff concerning all legal matters pertaining to the organization and its subsidiaries.
Review and negotiate all Southwest Key contracts.
Supervise any pending administrative claims or litigation concerning the organization.
Monitor and review any work performed by outside counsel.
Prepare and review policies and procedures for the organization.
Review and draft legal and governance documents necessary for the organization’s operations.
Analyzes complex legal issues and conducts legal research.
Participates in investigations and reports out on findings.
Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an accredited law school; at least six years’
experience as a licensed attorney; must be a member in good standing with the
State Bar of Texas.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills.
Stellar research skills.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities.
Proficient word processing and computer skills needed with web-based resources.
Bilingual in Spanish.
Experience in employment law, school law, construction law and/or contract negotiation.
