Butler Snow, a multi-office, regional law firm, is seeking to fill a Legal Secretarial position in a team environment supporting attorneys in our Baton Rouge office. This is a full time position with a competitive salary, benefits and great in-house training opportunities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the terminology, procedures and processes used in a Commercial Transactions and Public Finance legal practice. Must have an understanding of the needs and expectations of the attorneys, allowing the employee to independently complete a heavily administrative task load. Additional requirements include the ability to articulate well orally and in writing, willingness to learn procedures already in place, ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
Must have excellent secretarial, organizational and administrative skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Must have current working knowledge of all courts.
Must possess and exhibit strong attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of legal and support staff on confidential and sensitive firm matters.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented and continuous learning environment.
Superior technology skills – Must be able to demonstrate accurate typing speed of 50+ wpm and proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to prioritize, organize and manage work load and to take the initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done.
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
Requires a high degree of professionalism and the ability to exercise good judgment.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
1 year legal experience required.
3-5 years commercial transactions and /or public finance experience preferred.
