The Legal Secretary will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Legal Secretary at Latham, you will perform a variety of secretarial duties of a highly responsible and confidential nature for attorneys and/or paralegals. You will maintain positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff. The Legal Secretary will report to the Office Administrator and work to accomplish these and other critical functions:
- Complete secretarial functions for attorneys and/or paralegals requiring knowledge of format, procedure and specialized terminology.
- Research and obtain a wide variety of information or documents requested by attorneys and/or paralegals.
- Compose materials such as correspondence, manuscripts, minutes, pleadings, petitions, real estate and finance documents and general forms.
- Maintain and track schedules and calendars as well as perform a variety of other administrative tasks
As the Legal Secretary, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. A minimum of two (2) years of secretarial experience is required, preferably in a law firm or professional services organization. The successful candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, possess strong knowledge and proficiency in PC applications such as MS Word and MS Excel and demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills, superior customer service skills and organizational skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, however some college or business school coursework is desired; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
