ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and execute lobbying strategies to generate pressure on federal elected officials and other decision makers, as well as build outside pressure for change. Help coordinate day-to-day activities and help manages program staff on issue campaigns, including team assignments and follow-through.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with Senior Vice President and senior staff to develop campaign action plans and timelines, and to identify campaign challenges and opportunities. Work with Policy, Program and Communications staff to develop policy materials, letters, testimony, media backgrounders, reports and other materials in key issue areas. Work with senior staff and development staff to raise money from foundations, major donors, allies and partners, and Common Cause members. Recruit and manage Common Cause lobby corps. Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive knowledge of public interest campaigns, including lobbying, grassroots organizing strategies, online and social media outreach and advocacy tactics; Minimum 10 years advocacy or political campaign experience; Commitment to Common Cause issues and agenda; Excellent oral, written, and communication skills, including public speaking; Ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities, high energy level; Experience in fundraising from major donors and foundations. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Working knowledge of social media tools - i.e., Facebook, Twitter, etc.
