This position is for a professional librarian who is one of a team that delivers day-to-day service to the public with the Lee County Library. This position works primarily in the adult area of a busy regional library, with strong emphasis on excellent customer service.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
Duties include assisting patrons of all ages with selection of library materials, use of self-check machines, electronic resources, Internet, reference searches, and general information about the library. This individual will be required to plan, implement, and present programs for adults at the library and/or at outreach locations, and assist with development and maintenance of the regional library's collection. The individual may supervise staff or volunteers, serve on system-wide committees, attend professional development workshops and assist with displays and marketing of library materials.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Library Science from a graduate library school program accredited by the American Library Association and one to two years experience in a library or related field. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs. and to sit and stand for long periods of time. Possession of a valid Driver's License is preferred with an acceptable driving record required. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
This position requires knowledge of library resources and current technology related to library services, the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, and the ability to relate to a diverse population. The successful applicant may also be required to participate in the state-wide chat reference service and the system- wide email reference service and serve as backup to the Branch Manager, when needed.
80 Hours Bi-Weekly; Hours and days to include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.
The County may require employees to make a temporary or long-term, permanent transfer to another library location to accommodate the organization's business needs.
