This is a part-time position Monday Evenings (4 hours/week) located on the Estherville Campus. Primary responsibilities are to perform circulation desk tasks, prepare reports, administer tests for the instructional faculty, and perform administration of GED (if qualified).
REPORT TO: Director of Libraries
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF TIME)
Assist patrons in accessing information in both print and electronic resources.
Check out books with automated library system and retrieve information necessary for circulation records.
Assist students with using Office 2007 and Outlook.
Responsible for keeping the library orderly on a daily basis.
Enforce library rules for proper conduct as needed.
Administer GED tests as needed (if qualified)
Provide assistance in maintaining the Periodical Room organization.
Answer telephone queries.
Administer faculty tests.
Replace cartridges and paper in printers and copier.
Assist patrons making copies.
Report repairs or maintenance needed on library equipment and computers.
Keep circulation statistics.
Assist in the supervision and training of work-study students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Proficiency in or ability to learn all library online resources, automated library system, Office 2007 and Outlook in order to assist patrons.
Strong telephone skills.
Be willing and able to represent the College in the most positive manner with students and staff.
Read and understand written and oral instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate with students and staff.
Meet and deal with students and staff in a professional manner.
Ability to work effectively in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
Sedentary to medium work. Position involves standing, walking, sitting with frequent changes from one to another position; exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (10 – 33%). Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling. Frequent stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying (34 – 66).

High School diploma or equivalency required. A combination of secretarial/clerical experience and post-secondary training in an appropriate area equivalent to three years or an appropriate Associate Degree preferred. Must have computer proficiency.
