Completion of the tenth grade; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Successful completion of a criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment. Evening and weekend work hours may be required. Twenty hours per week.
This is routine, entry-level manual and clerical work in the Alachua County Library District.
An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for shelving library materials and performing related tasks in accordance with well defined procedures.
Work is performed under the supervision of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, performance evaluations, and observation of results obtained.
Examples of Duties:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Shelves library materials; maintains and monitors shelf order. Transports materials throughout the Library on handcarts.
Labels, processes, and mends library materials.
Checks books in and out; searches shelves for special requests; answers routine directional questions from library patrons.
Empties book drop boxes onto hand carts; pushes carts to reshelving area.
Ensure patron compliance of all policies and procedures through effective communication and enforcement.
