Assists Learning Resource Center patrons and completes various administrative tasks.
Scope of Supervision
Computer; printer; copier; fax machine; telephone; typewriter; laminator; projector; television, VCR, DVD player; sound system and other library and standard office equipment.
Confidential information included in student ID system; confidential addresses and phone numbers; other non-public and sensitive college records.
Good working conditions in a library environment. The work requires the use of safe work practices with office equipment, and observance of general safety regulations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and regularly stands and walks. The employee regularly exhibits manual dexterity when working on the computer, typing and performing other related tasks. The employee regularly performs general physical labor when lifting books and stocking shelves. The employee regularly stoops, kneels, crouches, climbs and balance when shelving books and performing other library duties. The employee regularly talks and hears when working with students, faculty, staff, the learning community and other job contacts. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision, with the ability to adjust focus when typing or reading a computer screen. The employee occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work, experience, and demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities may qualify an applicant for this position. An example of an acceptable qualification is: High School Diploma/ GED and six months to one year experience working in an office environment.
Applicant must successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Southern State Community College’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

Assists Learning Resource Center patrons, directs patrons to appropriate areas of library and answers patron questions. Conducts subject searches and instructs patrons on the use and location of reference materials. Utilizes OhioLink, Anzio and Interlibrary Loan ( ILL ) to meet patron needs. Pulls and checks out materials.
Schedules the use of equipment. Delivers and returns equipment and troubleshoots equipment.
Provides IDs to students and faculty.
Assists faculty, staff and students to conduct research and search databases. Assists patrons to use library equipment and services including internet, online catalogue, microfilm reader, copier and other equipment. Provides other assistance.
Catalogues reference materials and barcodes periodicals.
Develops and maintains bulletin board and other displays.
Shelves books and other library materials, and maintains orderliness of library. Maintains shelf order, and rearranges and shifts books on shelves as needed to ensure proper order.
Opens library and turns on equipment.
Expands and extends learning throughout the College community.
Improves learning opportunities available to community residents by working collaboratively with other colleges, high schools, technical education centers and community based organizations.
Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information.
Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands.
