Provides front-line customer service, education and information to customers regarding City municipal and state codes, regulations, and licensing procedures. Issues construction, residential and green emission permits. Processes payments from the general public such as business licenses, bus passes, parking cards, utility payments, and parking or animal citations. Works extensively with the general public under general supervision following established policies and procedures.
Provides front-line customer service, education, and information to the public regarding City municipal and state codes, regulations, and licensing procedures. Issues construction, residential, green emission, and parking permits. Processes animal license renewals. Provides notary services, driving manuals, maps, bus schedules, tourist and voter information, as well as other general City information. (25%)
Processes cash, credit, and check payments from customers for items such as business licenses, bus passes, parking cards, utility payments, and parking or animal citations. Maintains a cash drawer using multiple cashiering programs. Reconciles revenue collection from parking meter zones, parking services, commercial licensing, and petty cash from all City departments. (25%)
Enters and maintains information in applicable databases such as issued parking tickets, towing code enforcement, purchase orders, journal vouchers, department accounts payable, incoming payments, and payments made by mail. (25%)
Courteously and professionally answers and routes telephone calls. Greets and receives visitors, and responds to staff inquiries and requests for information. Photocopies, files, tracks and purchases office supplies, sorts and distributes U.S. and inter-departmental mail as needed. Receives and processes public records requests, claims for damage, and court documentation on behalf of the ex-officio City Clerk. Schedules court appearances for individuals disputing parking tickets. Assists City enforcement personnel with investigations and reports. Provides back-up assistance to other departmental positions as needed. (25%)

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Requires education and/or experience to attain the following:
Two years experience performing general administrative, clerical support, customer service, and/or cash handling duties in a departmental or operational group, and a high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Working knowledge of general business office and telephone etiquette, equipment, and procedures; computer operations including contemporary and related software applications; record keeping and filing practices; general customer service techniques.
Ability to operate a computer with demonstrated proficiency using contemporary and related database, word processing, and spreadsheet software applications at an appropriate level for efficient job performance; independently work in a high stress environment; read and understand complex laws and other written documents; 10-key by touch; communicate with and effectively manage difficult customers; apply basic math, as well as spelling and grammatical skills; receive, comprehend and follow verbal instructions; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Four years experience performing general administrative, clerical support, and customer service duties with significant cash handling responsibilities, and experience interpreting and applying governmental laws and regulations.
