Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

This is a highly advanced professional counseling position providing assessment, evaluation intake, treatment planning and documentation addressing the specific treatment needs of clients, as well as consultation services to Center and other agency staff. This position requires the ability to build professional, empathic and caring and supportive relationships with staff, while providing efficient and appropriate direct clinical services.

Designed to provide a coordinated, intense, comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment for our individuals with appropriate treatment modalities (Bio-Psycho-Social approach). The treatment approach would include evidence based therapies including, but not limited to cognitive based therapy, solution focused therapy and rational emotive therapy. Treatment plan should also include a comprehensive approach to develop and obtain necessary social support and active engagement with all available community resources to ensure long term holistic health.


Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field required. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker. Must have two years of experience. Must have at least 5 years experience working in a psychiatric/medical setting.

Is aware of cultural issues that may affect assessment of client needs and treatment planning
Can identify signs and indicators of abuse
Expertise in dual diagnosis

Has excellent treatment skills
Can formulate treatment problems, goals and objectives based on assessment data
Understands how to effectively integrate family/caregiver/significant others in treatment
Understands the nature of and maintains appropriate professional boundaries (e.g., can examine the use of self in therapy, transference/counter-transference issues)
Provides culturally competent care
Applies appropriate therapeutic interventions

Has excellent consultation skills
Understands how to utilize resources within agency
Able to communicate with supervisor as needed
Has excellent documentation skills
Is proficient in completion of key clinical records forms
Able to learn and incorporate on-line records keeping system

Critical thinking ability
Has the ability to deal with complex situations to determine a course of action that solves the problem and applies Center policy and procedure.
Has the ability to analyze processes and ask questions that lead to improvement in the process under review or the outcome created by that process. Thus, s/he can define problems, define information or resources needed, collect data, draw conclusions, and outline solutions.

Has excellent oral and written communication skills
