Licensed Mental Health Professional Staff (LMHP)


  • (a) an individual who holds a license, certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in DBHDS with the population served; or
  • (b) a graduate of a college or university with a Master’s Degree in human service field and has one year full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated DBHDS experience with the population served or a substance abuse professional who has one year full time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
  • (c) intensive in-home services focused on substance abuse intervention must include a


  • All staff providing intensive in home services to children and families must have a minimum of one year documented experience with this population and 2 complete intensive in-home services training within the first 90 days of employment


  • Provide Supervision to Qualified Mental Health Professionals and Licensed Mental Health Professionals
  • Ensure accuracy of Individualized Service Plans and Assessments
  • Ensure that all services provided remain in compliance with all Medicaid, State and local Regulations, Laws, and Statues.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all billing claims. (This task can be appointed to Crestar Health’s administrative personnel)


  • Provide documentation daily
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License


1. Exhibit core skills including: technical knowledge, cultural awareness, and analytical skills and clinical skills

2. Current physical

3. TB Skin Test

4. No substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the Virginia Healthcare Personnel Registry

5. Disclosure of any criminal conviction

6. No history of alcohol or drug abuse in the two years previous employment
