The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited School of Practical Nurses and have a current Georgia license. Successful completion of the Pharmacology exam as well as current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is a must. Previous experience in a hospital or medical office preferred.

Job Description:
The LPN utilizes the nursing process to provide the best care for Floyd Medical Center patients. Providing and maintaining a clean, safe and quiet environment in support of patient comfort and contentment is required. Some specific job requirements are:

*Participates in activities which assure quality patient care

*Follows collaborative care guidelines, protocols and policies of Floyd

*Administration of blood or blood products

*Collecting and labeling laboratory specimens

*Checking physician orders; taking verbal physician orders

*Chercking MAR and making necessary corrections

*Completes designated components of the Admission assessment

*Assists in admission by preparing patient's room and orientating patient and families to the environment

*Observes patients and reports immediately any untoward signs, symptoms or unusual occurances to the physician and charge nurse.

*Assists coworkers to complete bathing, dressing, turning or toileting patients or ambulating patients who required two-person assistance.

*Changes bed linens on unoccupied and occupied beds.

*Assists with menu selections, sets up trays, assists with feeding as needed; collects trays.

*Checks for changes in diet orders, monitors trays for correctness, records patients dietary intake

*Measures, calculates and records the patient's intake and output.

*Adheres to infection control pociies and procedures.

*Handles narcotics in accordance with pharmacy and Floyd policy and procedures

*Records and receives report appropriately and accurately

*Legibly documents in patient records

*Demonstrates proven competency in tasks and equipment

*Administering medications per "five medication rights," including PO, IV, IM Sub-Q, enternal, dermal and rectal meds

*Performing vital signs

*Medical record reviews as assigned

*Other duties as assigned
