This position is located in Ridgeway Cottage. Ridgeway serves approximately 45 individuals with profound I/D Disabilities of various ages, cognitive, and functional abilities who are medically fragile with a variety of health care needs including terminal illnesses, dementia, gastrointestinal disorders, gastrostomy tubes, respiratory issues, & who require 24 hour nursing care. The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical services and medication/treatment administration. This LPN performs nursing procedures as prescribed by the physician. This LPN performs nursing care duties under supervision of an RN and works with the RN in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. This is a Journey level LPN. Scheduled work hours: 2nd shift, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm, rotating weekends and schedule adjustments as needed/requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Demonstrated ability to independently administer meds/treatments following the 6 rights. Ability to successfully complete DHHS Medication Exam. Ability to be certified in CPR, First Aid, and North Carolina Intervention (NCI). Skill in preparation and administration of medications; Skill in recognizing signs/symptoms of illness and injury. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrates the ability to understand, interpret, and relate oral and written instructions. Ability to function efficiently in emergency situations. Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports. Ability to communicate regarding health related issues. Ability to communicate with supervisor any issues related to personnel and health care delivery. This is a Journey level LPN; however, if there are no applicants who have the required journey level competencies, management will consider contributing level.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
