Murdoch Developmental Center is a state residential facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities located in Butner, NC near the Research Triangle area. Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities.
This LPN is located in Edgewood Cottage. Edgewood provides training, habilitation, and health services to 48 individuals who have a diagnosis of sever/profound intellectual disability and many with multiple, additional disabilities. The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical services and medication and treatment administration. This LPN performs and documents basic and complex nursing procedures and techniques as prescribed by the physician and outlined in the client Individual Program Plan. This LPN performs nursing care duties under supervision of a Registered Nurse. This LPN works with the Registered Nurse in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care. Shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm with rotating weekends and schedule adjustment as needed/requested. To be considered for employment, applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Demonstrated ability to independently administer meds/treatments following the 6 rights. Ability to successfully complete DHHS Medication Exam. Ability to be certified in CPR, First Aid, and North Carolina Intervention (NCI). Skill in preparation and administration of medications; Skill in recognizing signs/symptoms of illness and injury. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrates the ability to understand, interpret, and relate oral and written instructions. Ability to function efficiently in emergency/stressful situations. Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports. Ability to communicate regarding health related issues. Ability to communicate with supervisor any issues related to personnel and health care delivery. This is a Journey level LPN; however, if there are no applicants who have the required journey level competencies, management will consider contributing level. Applicant must have a valid Driver License.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
