The Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Program Coordinator is considered the manager of programs and services related to MST, and assigned to the Mental Health Service Line (MHSL) and will work collaboratively with leadership, staff, and veterans to meet the mandates of public laws, VA directives and Uniform Mental Health Services. The Licensed Professional Mental health Counselor (LPMHC) is assigned to the MHSL and will work autonomously to provide case assessment, diagnostics, treatment, and discharge planning to veterans requiring mental health treatment. The incumbent will function as a counselor, case manager, consultant, and educator, while providing a full range of psychotherapy modalities with individuals, couples, and groups.
The MST Program Coordinator will serve as the point person for MST related issues. The MST Program Coordinator will stay abreast of MST related knowledge, skills, and changes relevant to MST public laws, directive and provisions within the Uniform Mental Health Services. The MST Program Coordinator will provide leadership and staff with information related to MST.
The MST Coordinator will develop, maintain, and monitor a plan to conduct universal MST screening at their facility. The MST Coordinator will monitor MST screening to assure the facility meets and/or exceeds the performance standard set by VACO, in accordance with public laws and directives. In addition, the MST Coordinator will collaborate with IRM to resolve identified problems with the MST screening software package and accuracy of data. The MST Coordinator will generate screening reminder reports and distribute accordingly to providers and locations. The MST Coordinator will maintain confidential documentation of MST screening, aggregated by gender. The MST Coordinator will receive all MST consults to assure gender preferences and accessibility, in accordance with Uniform Mental Health services. The MST Coordinator will monitor MST screening reminders and assist providers through education and support in screening and generating consults.
The MST Coordinator will provide staff education on MST screening, consults, available treatments, resources, and screening, eligibility, and billing. Additionally, the MST Coordinator will provide continuing education opportunities for staff working directly with veterans living with MST. The MST Coordinator will provide individual and group counseling services using evidence based treatment and alternative intervention methods. Provides Psychiatric emergency On-call crisis support. The MST Coordinator will participate in ongoing MST related trainings, monthly education and conference calls. The MHSL LPMHC provides case assessment and psychiatric diagnosis, treatment planning, and assumes responsibility for coordinating care and discharge planning. Provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy services to veterans with a wide range of mental health disorders. Maintains appropriate records including Initial Psychiatric Intakes and History, treatment plans, referrals, testing, progress notes of each psychotherapy session, and termination notes. Assesses the mental status and performs risk assessment of veterans at each visit.
Relocation expenses are not offered and therefore will not be reimbursed.
The incumbent will participate in the Mental Health clinical on-call rotation & Crisis Support, provide Tele-Mental Health, serve on Interdisciplinary Treatment Teams, and maintain a patient panel.
If you are assigned to an out-patient clinic (Fort Collins, Greeley, Colorado, etc.): on occasion and as needed, travel to Cheyenne VA is expected and is at your own cost to fulfill responsibilities of this position-

Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States (Non-citizens may e appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
Education: Master's degree in mental health counseling, or a related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Examples of related mental health counseling fields include, but are not limited to, Addiction Counseling; Community Counseling; Gerontology Counseling; Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling; and Marriage and Family Therapy. A doctoral degree in mental health counseling may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in mental health counseling.
Licenser: Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice mental health counseling, which includes diagnosis and treatment, in a State.
GRADE REQUIREMENTS: GS-12 Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor
Experience, Education, and Licensure. In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must have at least 1 year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Experience must have been in a major specialty treatment program area such as, but not limited to, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), mental health intensive case management (MHICM), or other areas of equivalent scope and complexity. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to meeting the KSAs , the candidate must demonstrate the KSAs below:
1. Advanced knowledge in program planning and development of policies and procedures.
2. Ability to make key decisions in the hiring and identification of top candidates.
3. Ability to provide leadership in facilitating the process of coordinating program consults, assessments, admissions, care assignments and discharges.
4. Ability to provide subject matter consultation to other colleagues and students within the field of counseling working on an interdisciplinary team.
