Summary of Job Duties

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides basic bedside nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a physician or registered nurse. The LVN utilizes scientific and technical expertise and manual skills. Duties within the scope of practice of an LVN typically include, but are not limited to, provision of basic hygienic and nursing care; measurement of vital signs; basic client assessment; documentation; performance of prescribed medical treatments; administration of prescribed medications; and, performance of non-medicated intravenous therapy. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.

Qualifications & Requirements

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written format

Certified LVN with two years direct patient care or student nurse eligible for LVN exam – must pass within 120 days of hire

Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing

Must possess Current American Heart Association BLS or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Certification
