The Licensure Consultant is Capella’s subject matter expert on professional licensing laws and regulations. The Consultant provides advice, counsel and support services to all academic and business departments within Capella University, as well as to learners, prospective learners and alumni. This position is part of the Legal-Regulatory Department and reports to the Manager of Licensure Affairs.
Research and analysis of state laws, regulations and professional requirements for a variety of licenses and certifications in all U.S. and some international jurisdictions.
Counsel and support Capella academic and business leadership, faculty, staff, learners, prospective learners, and alumni on professional licensure and certification related issues.
Maintain resources to provide professional licensure information to Capella’s prospective learners, learners, and alumni (e.g. websites, iGuide, SharePoint, etc.).
Provide regular training and on-going guidance about professional licensure and certification to enrollment counselors, academic advisors, faculty and other departments.
Effectively communicate with state licensing boards and departments of education on behalf of Capella University and its learners and alumni on professional licensure issues; support and advise university leadership in communications with state licensing boards and departments of education
Draft, review and revise oral and written university and school communications to state licensing boards and agencies, learners, prospective learners, and alumni.
Work with representatives from various departments to manage risk throughout the organization related to professional licensure and certification. This includes identifying and analyzing the level of risk, developing practices and procedures used to evaluate and control risk, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Other duties as assigned
3 + years experience researching and interpreting laws and regulations or working in a regulatory or legislative environment. Experience working in an academic or educational setting preferred. Experience communicating with state education departments and state licensing boards a plus.
Bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree or JD preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn other key software applications
