The Rehabilitation department at East Morgan County Hospital has a GYM and therapeutic pool utilized by community members for exercise programs. The Lifeguard supervises community members in the pool and gym as well as keeping these areas clean. American Red Cross lifeguard certification is required. Ability to come to work on short notice to meet department needs is required.

Job Summary:
This position monitors swimming pool activity and equipment to ensure water safety, minimize pool hazards, and provide life-saving techniques. This position also performs cleaning and minor maintenance on rehabilitation equipment and prepares the treatment area for patients.

Essential Functions

Performs pool surveillance and enforces pool water safety guidelines to ensure safety of all pool patrons/visitors.

Cleans and maintains pool equipment and keeps pool area free of obstructions or unsafe materials. Maintains pool chemistry and temperature logs.

Cleans and straightens rehab treatment area to ensure readiness for patients. Maintains cleaning logs per department policy. Closes department at end of business hours following departmental security check list.

Participates in orientation of new lifeguards and pool safety training of rehab staff.

Minimum Qualifications

American Red Cross lifeguard certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
