Salary $9.00 per hour
Campus Recreation lifeguards are expected to provide supervision in the Natatorium and Outdoor Pool Areas. Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring that all participants are safe while utilizing these areas and enforcing all rules and policies specific to the aquatic facilities. All lifeguards must have valid certifications and have a duty to act in any emergency situation that occurs in any of the aquatic facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Be familiar with the Department of Campus Recreation programs, facilities, policies and procedures.
Participate in decision-making in the best interest of Campus Recreation and the University Recreation Center.
Supervision of all open aquatic facilities when swimmers are present.
Enforce all rules and policies.
Provide emergency care to participants when necessary.
Maintain cleanliness of all aquatic facilities (vacuuming pools, scrubbing gutters, picking up trash).
Taking and recording daily chemical checks.
Report any difficulties, maintenance issues, or complaints to the Assistant Director or Team Leader.
Attend mandatory in-service trainings and staff meetings.
Assist with opening/closing procedures while ensuring all participants have vacated the pool area when closing.
Other duties as assigned by the professional staff.
Qualifications and Expectations
Be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy.
Must be willing and able to enforce all policies of the Department of Campus Recreation.
Hold a vast array of knowledge regarding Campus Recreation programs and activities.
Attend all facility staff meetings throughout the year.
American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard and Standard First Aid Certification.
American Red Cross of YMCA CPR/AED for Lifeguards.
