Position overview
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience supporting Linux/Unix in a corporate environment. This individual must have knowledge of industry best practices related to server administration, monitoring, storage, backup, high availability and disaster recovery. Excellent people skills, team work and written documentation skills are also a must.

Required Experience
The successful candidate must have strong skills in these key areas:
• Provisioning and administrating mission-critical RHEL and Solaris environments
• Patching and updating Sun Solaris and RHEL systems
• Strong skills supporting databases on RHEL
• Proficient Linux command line (Shell) skills and Shell Scripting abilities (BSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD)
• Expertise with DNS/BIND, NFS, DHCP, Samba, Printing (e.g. LPR, CUPS) and FTP services
• Program installation, compilation and configuration
• System-level security procedures
• Kernel tuning and systems programming
• Secure web services such as Apache with mod_ssl and TOMCAT
• Strong skills installing and supporting Dell servers and IBM Blade Systems
• Configuring and deploying LPARS/WPARS
• Multipathing software
• NIM and VIO server configuration and maintenance
• Troubleshooting networks, systems and applications to identify and correct operational issues
• Working knowledge of storage area networks, storage systems and host connectivity
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain technical documentation
• Experience working within large and complex technical environments
• Exceptional customer support skills
• Strong network topology and system interconnectivity skills
• Availability for 24/7 on-call rotation
Preferred Experience
• Four years’ experience with Sun Solaris
• Two years’ experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration
• Two years’ experience with server hardware (both SPARC and Intel)
• Two years’ experience with TCP/IP and networking, including troubleshooting
• Two years’ experience with Netapp storage platforms
• Experience with Microsoft Windows server systems (Highly Preferred)
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (Highly Preferred)
• Experience with VMware virtualization technologies (Highly Preferred)
It would be a plus if the candidate has knowledge of the following areas:
• NetApp storage
• Netapp SnapMirror Replication technology
• Symantec Netbackup Software
• Symantec AntiVirus software
• Quantum tape library
• D/R planning and testing
• Perl, CGI, and shell scripting
• Hostmon monitoring system
• Experience with VMware
Preferred Certifications
One or more of the following:
• Sun Certified System Administrator (SCSA)
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Unix Certification
