exas Apache Corporation has a full-time position available for a qualified Litigation Paralegal on the Company’s in-house litigation team at the Company’s headquarters in Houston, Texas.
The Litigation Paralegal will report to the head of the Company’s litigation team and will have the following job responsibilities, to be performed under the direction of the Company’s in-house litigation counsel:

  • Serve as in-house paralegal on assigned cases.

  • Prepare and maintain legal hold notifications.

  • Collect evidence.

  • Prepare discovery responses.

  • Respond to subpoenas.

  • Manage electronic and documentary evidence.

  • Assist in-house litigation counsel with research utilizing legal research tools and the Internet.

  • Conduct due diligence.

  • Assist in-house litigation counsel in preparing for and attending meetings, settlement conferences, hearings, legal proceedings, regulatory proceedings, and trials.

  • Have a working knowledge of the Company’s records management program and technology systems, including where and how information is stored.

  • Interface with courts, clients, outside counsel, outside experts, and service providers.

  • Requirements:

  • Superior academic credentials.

  • A minimum of five years of attorney or paralegal experience in complex and commercial litigation. Attorney or paralegal experience with environmental litigation is a plus.

  • A minimum of ten years of attorney or paralegal experience with reputable law firms or the legal departments of mid-sized or large corporations.

  • The ability to work effectively and collegially with the in-house litigation team and clients.

  • The ability to take instruction from each of the in-house litigation counsel and to complete work assignments as instructed quickly, thoroughly, and efficiently; the ability to balance competing priorities through effective communication and to work calmly while under the pressure of deadlines.

  • The ability to understand technical concepts, terms, and systems, including those relating to information technology and the energy industry.

  • Superior organizational, speaking, and writing skills. Spanish language skills are a plus.

  • The availability to work during the Company’s regular business hours as established by Company policy.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools, document management tools, legal research tools, and Internet searches
