We are looking for a litigation paralegal that has a positive attitude, has a productive work ethic, and enjoys working with diverse groups of people. Applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be team-oriented and be willing to perform a broad range of tasks ranging from general office duties to interacting with clients and potential clients. Ideal candidate will be comfortable working under strict deadlines and be able to prioritize assignments. Must be professional, prompt and have an attention to detail, as well as being able to assist and work with a staff of attorneys and paralegals. Must be a self-starter; willing to seek work as appropriate. Needs to be flexible and able to schedule work by deadlines, as well as manage calendars for office staff. This position requires coordinating with attorneys, staff and clients to maintain a smooth running executive office environment. The position entails a wide range of duties including performing client intake, communicating with clients and vendors, maintaining litigation files (paper and electronic), preparing state court filings and service, assisting with written discovery, legal calendaring, trial preparation, scheduling depositions, and word processing.
-Must be able to perform all duties to be able to handle a file from start to finish
-Request and collect supporting documents and materials from clients as needed
-Analyze and organize information, documents and exhibits received
-Filing, scanning, copying, mailing and administrative duties as assigned
-Drafting pleadings including complaints, subpoenas, and other legal documents
-Preparing discovery including responses, requests, and drafting meet and confer letters
-Extensive trial preparation including Motions In Limine, research, jury instructions, and organizing trial binders
-Other tasks as assigned
-Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, as well as, organize, prioritize and multi-task to meet time deadlines
-Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
-Excellent interpersonal skills in communicating with all office personnel, clients and attorneys
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Word Perfect
-Self-starter with excellent organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Experience and Skills required:
-At least 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
-Candidate must possess an ABA approved Paralegal Certificate
-Experience in construction defect litigation a plus
