This is a leadership role, responsible for supporting eDiscovery needs of existing clients and case teams. This position will be responsible for managing eDiscovery projects and recommending innovative and cost-effective technologies to manage the discovery process. Essential functions include identifying and implementing legal and technical requirements and resources necessary for each project; assisting with managing and selecting vendors and technology to be used; defining and assigning associated litigation support tasks of the project; and providing high-level consulting on eDiscovery issues.

This position will act as the principal point of contact for the legal staff, IT staff and general staff on trial and presentation software, support services, document collection, document review and production projects. The Litigation Support Coordinator will keep abreast of new product developments and educate legal staff on the strengths and weaknesses of different products and services for use in particular projects. Strong project management and customer support skills are required.

Travel may be required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide day-to-day assistance, training and support to all employees of the firm on all aspects of litigation support, electronic discovery and courtroom use of technology.

Knowledge of and the ability to train on Relativity, Summation, Concordance, Sanction, Trial Director, Westlaw Case Notebook, Case Map, Time Map. Working knowledge of IPRO e-Capture and IPRO.

Well versed in analysis methods and techniques for management of projects containing ESI (electronically stored information).

Ensure expertise in relevant technology developments in the legal industry; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, mobility, client service and efficiency.

Participate in appropriate industry organizations.

Assist case teams in use of innovative and cost effective litigation support technologies.

Assist with setup and organization of all litigation technology services and regularly communicate with case teams to ensure all project requests and expectations are met or exceeded. Provide individual or group user support, training and troubleshooting on specific programs such as Relativity or other litigation support tools as needed.

Develop database or other reports, create search strategies, maintain case data logs, oversee/coordinate internal or external data coding activities and assure continuing integrity of data information.

Develop, track and coordinate appropriate case specific litigation support budgets, including tracking vendor costs, make vendor selection recommendations, ensure compliance with agreements and budgets. Work with trial teams to develop client approved litigation support services and corresponding budgets.

Develop case specific legal project management plans for litigation support with lead attorney and/or trial team members.

Ensure compliance with the federal rules regarding electronically stored information.

Assist with eDiscovery policies and best practices for legal teams. Oversee litigation hold and ethical wall procedures.

Provide guidance to internal and external legal teams regarding eDiscovery data processing and production specifications for vendors and/or analysts to meet legal requirements.

Assist with the development and dissemination of best practices and guidelines for litigation teams. Coordinate training and course development and tracking with firm trainer.

Participate in team planning with IT Dept. with respect to the implementation, upgrade, configuration and support of existing and planned litigation support applications. Assist the IT Dept. with the installation, integration, testing and deployment of new litigation support applications, software patches or configuration changes.

Document and publish all litigation support application changes and procedures for IT staff and litigation case teams.

Where appropriate, attend user groups with senior staff and managers and make recommendations with a goal towards improving the group’s efficiency in the delivery of client services. Once a litigation support application is selected, take ownership for the implementation, working with the practice group and vendor and on-going support of the litigation support application.

Attend vendor sponsored training classes, seminars, webinars, conferences for firm supported litigation support tools and cross-train IT staff as appropriate to ensure cross-functional support can be provided.

Schedule regular onsite support visits to all offices.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Knowledge of federal and state rules relating to eDiscovery.

Working knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model.

Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint as well as database programs in general.

Extensive knowledge of Relativity (or similar litigation support software) hosting and reviewing, data collections, discovery processes and industry best practices.

Ability to work as a member of a team with acute listening skills, research skills and ability to give clear and concise directions.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and effectively present information. Ability to communicate complex information and ideas to end users.

Project Management, time management and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines set by management and outside counsel.

Ability to remain flexible in constantly changing work environment and under difficult deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

5+ years of litigation support experience in one or more of the following areas: handling litigation support technological functions; managing litigation cases in a multi-office law firm.
