JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, a Top 100 AM Law Firm, has an immediate opening for a Legal Technology Technical Specialist in their New York office. This position will be responsible for performing tasks associated with creating and modifying databases and imagebases encompassing database administration, data manipulation and software utility creation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Quality check data received for loading and report statistics on quality of data and images.
  • Convert and manipulate data for loading into the firm's database systems.
  • Load data and images from CDs, DVDs and other media sources to the firm's database systems.
  • Work with Legal Technology Project Coordinator(s) to ensure quality of loaded data and images.
  • Inform Technical Specialist Manager, Assistant Technical Specialist Supervisor and Project Coordinator(s) regarding project progress and issues.
  • Assist in creation of imagebases and set up user accounts.
  • Assist with trouble-shooting and resolving database issues.
  • Perform database searches and generate reports.
  • Maintain physical order of source media and other related materials.
  • Assist with software testing and trouble-shooting.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER JOB-RELATED COMPETENCIES:

  • Working knowledge of job related computer software, i.e. imaging, database and Web technology.
  • Working knowledge of structured query language (SQL) for use with databases, Unix and Microsoft Windows.
  • Working knowledge of programming principles.
  • Must have command of at least one scripting language - Perl strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of regular expressions.
  • Must know structured query language (SQL) for use with databases, Unix and Microsoft WindowsAbility to read, interpret and follow directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Uses sound judgment when approaching problems and making decisions.
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments, and shifting responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • Must have between 3-5 years of overall/related workexperience, preferably in the Legal or E-Discovery industry.
  • Must be able to work a normal work schedule of Wednesday-Sunday, 9:30am-5:30pm, with the ability to work overtime, as needed, and the ability to adjust hours to the firm's operating needs.
