DESCRIPTION

Norwood Seniors Network is seeking an energetic Caregiver to join our team. We are nestled in a historic district called Norwood Park on Chicago's North side. We provide in-home care to clients living in the surrounding areas of Norwood Park.

We are currently looking for live-in caregivers. Our Caregivers provide in-home assistance in accordance with the written Care Plan for senior citizens contracted with Norwood Seniors Network. Clients' needs may range from light housekeeping service to comprehensive assistance with the activities of daily living. Caregivers may be assigned from one hour per week to 24 hour duty based on their availability.

DUTIES

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Perform tasks for client as indicated on written care plan. Tasks may include, and are not limited to: light housekeeping; running errands for the client; reminding the client to take medications from a pre-filled med-minder; providing bathing assistance; foot care; hair care; oral/denture care; shaving; toileting assistance; continence care; nail care (no cutting); transferring assistance; meal preparation, serving, and clean-up; and companionship.
  • Perform above duties as instructed in training class and in Caregiver Manual.
  • Record all tasks performed on the Client Daily Care Log and turn the Log into the office weekly.
  • Report all changes in the client's condition to the office as soon as possible, and provide a weekly telephone status report on the client.
  • Report all accidents, abuse, or incidents you observe to the office immediately.
  • Cooperate with other caregivers assigned to the same client to ensure efficient continuity of care by sharing information on the client's preferences.
  • Notify the office (or emergency hotline after-hours) as soon as you know you are going to be late or absent for a shift.
  • Attend required annual training as assigned by supervisor; complete on time.
  • Follow standard safety and infection-control procedures as taught in training class.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Present yourself in a professional manner, particularly in appearance. Caregivers must wear their name badge on duty. Scrubs are not permitted. Jeans are permitted if neat and do not have holes. One Norwood Seniors Network polo shirt will be provided to each caregiver upon assignment to a regular shift.
  • Treat all clients fairly with dignity, kindness, and respect.
  • Call the office weekly if not assigned to a client to verify availability for work.
  • Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience preferred, but not required.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
