CDC DEVELOPMENT SOLUTIONS (CDS) (www.cdcdevelopmentsolutions.org), an NGO based in Washington, DC, will be managing an international corporate volunteer program in New Orleans scheduled to take place February 22 –March 23, 2013. CDS is seeking a consultant currently residing in New Orleans to help design the program as well as to provide project and logistical support to the selected team of corporate volunteers. This is a paid position.

CDS is looking for a consultant with excellent knowledge of New Orleans and the surrounding area, particularly the nonprofit and/or community development sectors, with a specific focus in agriculture.

The selected consultant's main responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:


Help to develop scopes of work (SOWs) reflecting the specific areas of intervention requested by local clients (mostly nonprofits and community development organizations)

Participate in conference calls with corporate volunteers

Coordinate the Kick-off and Closing Event(s) for volunteer groups and participating clients

Assist in procuring accommodations and transportation for volunteers in New Orleans as needed on arrival and for the duration of their stay

Orient new corporate volunteers upon arrival in New Orleans

Manage assignment, work, and travel logistics for volunteers while they are in New Orleans

Act as the on-the-ground interface between CDS and our partners in New Orleans

Act as a logistical and informational resource for volunteers and troubleshoot problems they may face

Correspond with CDS headquarters program staff and other stakeholders to assure satisfaction on the part of the volunteers and our partners

Monitor and advise on security arrangements for volunteers when they are in New Orleans

Participate in the regular evening meetings with corporate volunteers

Prepare New Orleans-related guides and guidance for team reports

Prepare financial and final program reports


College degree in international relations, business, agriculture, organizational development, NGO management, or related. Graduate students welcome to apply.

Experience in project management and in leading multicultural groups

Currently residing in New Orleans with in-depth area familiarity [Do not apply if you are not a resident of New Orleans metro area]

Detailed and people-oriented

Experience with group travel logistics and coordination thereof;

Exposure and experience in nonprofit and/or agricultural sector a plus

Interest in sustainable development, agriculture/urban farming, and Corporate Social Responsibility
