Purpose of Position:
Develop and manage a carrier portfolio to drive sales and revenue by providing outstanding customer service to all external and internal clients to AFN standards.

Main Accountabilities:
1. Build a sustainable, diversified logistics carrier portfolio to drive sales for AFN by identifying additional opportunities for portfolio growth

Develop successful strategies and techniques for portfolio growth & development through prospecting & sales strategies
Further develop carrier portfolio by diversify service offerings and carrier coverage
Develop Primary, Contracted, & Outsourced freight to land and manage dedicated business
Negotiate rates with carriers to maximize profits and develop long term solutions
Collaborate with Sales and Customer Solutions to develop new opportunities and grow current business
Deepen relationships within core carrier portfolio across all levels to further drive business growth

2. Deliver world class customer service to carriers, customers, and internal business partners to drive revenue

Maintain carrier satisfaction and provide high quality service and work ethic while representing AFN
Understand and develop successful problem resolution skills by partnering with internal and external parties to proactively mitigate risk regarding OS&D, Claims, Breakdowns, & Compliance issues
Follow all problem resolution policies & procedures to AFN standards
Work with Procurement department to ensure all freight is covered in the most cost effective, time efficient manner to satisfy both customer and carrier needs
Maximize personal productivity and workflow by communicating with Managers and Sr. Reps on load board priorities, efficiencies, & board coverage
Ensure all shipments are tracked according to company policy and to AFN standards
Update & maintain internal operating system with accurate and up-to-date information to ensure data integrity

3. Collaborate with Team Manager to enable greater levels of contribution to the organization

Stay current with the transportation industry. Communicate trends and changes to the organization
Understand market and competition; identify external threats and opportunities; adapt strategy to changing conditions
Actively work with other internal employees to discuss and share successful strategies to build a better team
Identify areas of success and failure as it pertains to carrier development and service as well as opportunities to drive efficient solutions

4. Fulfill other duties as required

Embrace the opportunities to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role
Ability to take initiative to think outside the box and identify opportunities for improvement
Identify problems and find solutions
Work on special projects as they arise

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree required; or HS Diploma/GED with relevant years experience required
At least 1+ years of experience required, ideally in a Sales environment
Inside Sales Experience ideal
Experience developing ongoing relationships
Strong understanding of logistics and trucking terminology
Experience negotiating rates that generate revenue growth

Skills and Competencies

Must exercise judgment to make decisions that will result in positive impact to team and AFN
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Powerbroker
Ability to develop relationships at all levels of a business (internally and externally)
Strong organizational skills with an ability to delegate and multi-task
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans for the business
Ability to gain a strong understanding of the logistics and transportation industries
Strong verbal and written communication skills
